As soon as Michaels sent me the Michaels Makers October challenge – DIY Halloween costume, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Charlotte has a few nicknames, Choo, Chewy and Chewbacca. Why Chewbacca? When Annabelle and Charlotte play, she makes a noise that sounds like Chewbacca (I should have taken a video!) So of course she had to be Chewbacca for Halloween. And Annabelle (much to her dismay) was Princess Leah. Honestly, she wasn’t a fan of the hair buns!
Charlotte’s Chewbacca costume consisted of an ammo belt and cross bow. At Michaels, we found 3″ and 1″ brown ribbon, balsa wood, silver spray paint, and silver textured paper that looked like carbon fiber.
David made her crossbow out of balsa wood and spray paint. Doesn’t she look tough in the photo below?
Annabelle’s Princess Leah costume consisted of light brown ribbon, braided and rolled together, a shirt she already had (she gets overheated easily when we take long walks, so the white keeps her black fur cool) with a white fabric skirt and silver ribbon belt.
Charlotte isn’t a big fan of anything touching her (we brush her everyday, but she’s still so tangly, so she hates that, toenail clipping is a big no, we get to clip one a day ..) But, she didn’t mind her costume at all!
Annabelle was very patient with me!! She got lots of good treats!
The costumes just took a few hours to make, so if you’re looking for an easy Halloween costume, give this a try!

These are great! And their faces make it that much funnier in the photos! 🙂

Hahahaha. They are so cute. What good puppies. I can get my dog to tolerate costumes or things on his head only when it's night and he's too exhausted to argue. 🙂

Haha those are so cute!
I made my dogs costumes this year, but then didn't take them out with us because I figured 2 toddlers + 2 dogs on a busy Halloween night was going to be an issue. They were *thrilled*.
