Hi! Just wanted to stop in quickly to share with you a few ideas for the living room rug … making the herringbone coffee table has got me thinking about what will go underneath it.
We’ll be painting the other side of our Ikea Moroccan painted rug. There is a lot of pattern going on in the room so I’m thinking a light gray and a large scale simple pattern, so that it doesn’t compete with the Zimba inspired draperies and pillows.
I’m most likely leaning towards a stripe, but if you have an opinion, I’d love to hear it! 🙂
We are making progress on the table (weeknights are slower than weekends). We’ll be done by this weekend, stop by Monday to see finished pictures!! (or follow me on instagram @sarahmdorseydesigns for sneak peaks)

I love that honeycomb and the diamond pattern too.
Can't wait to see the coffee table.

Love the idea of painting the other side of the rug and love your blog!
The Erslev rug at IKEA is discontinued, would you happen to know of another budget-friendly rug alternative to paint?
Sarah says
I know, so sad 🙁 I haven't found another one that is as affordable … I'll make sure to post if I find one!

Any luck a year on? I need to make 3-4 rugs for my house and am so frustrated that there's nothing like the Erslev ANYWHERE!? 🙁

Hey Sarah, since we live in the same area, I was wondering where you got your driftwood at?
Thanks
Erin
Sarah says
Hi Erin, We found it at a beach south of Hearst Castle. I also have some extra if you want it 🙂

I may take you up on that offer. I will let you know. Thanks so much!!! I can't wait to see the table.

I am kind of loving that honeycomb pattern too!! Stripes are definitely a lot easier, and still make an impact though. I painted thick gray stripes on my Erslev rug and put it under my dining room table and i love it. Its a great neutral! I have debated turning it over to paint something else also….just for a change!

i like the stripe idea…but mostly because i think that will be the easiest to diy and make look really nice. but, I totally think that YOU can pull any of them off…always impressed with your diy skills!

Stripes would rock! We recently stamped a pattern on one side of an IKEA rug for our kitchen – http://beaninloveblog.blogspot.com/2013/02/a-rugged-outlook.html – and spray painted stripes on the other – http://beaninloveblog.blogspot.com/2013/02/you-know-i-love-stripes.html – and we're loving it!!! 🙂 Can't wait to see what you decide!
