We finally finished one of our upholstered chairs. I have three more in process, yikes! Seriously reconsidering that now 🙂
You might remember this beauty that I shared way back in October. I picked it up from Goodwill for only $9.99!
I’ve been slowly working on it and David helped me finish (mainly to prevent me from throwing it out the window). Yep, this chair wasn’t the easiest for me .. I’ll share a little about our process, but mainly what to do and what NOT to do tomorrow.
First, here’s a few pictures!
I’ll be back tomorrow!! 🙂

Gorgeous! I can't wait to read tomorrow's post. I've reupholstered standard dining chairs before, but nothing with an upholstered back. I've been seeing the coolest chairs at the Habitat ReStore recently, but I'm too nervous to attempt making them over. This is super inspiring.
Oh, Sarah, you know I love this one! I'm glad you didn't throw in the towel! I have a similar love seat on "the list" and so I'm anxious to read your tips!
These turned out stunning. I really adore how the large stripes turned out.
super swanky! LOVE!
Stunning! I'll take two! I have yet to recover the two bucket chairs I scored. I need to get moving on that one of these days!! xo Kristin
I'm sure it was a big pain to do, but it really looks gorgeous! Kudos to you for sticking with it.
ohhh love it!!! i'm currently upholstering 2 chairs right now and each layer I pull off i think to myself "wonderful, what the heck did i just get myself into?"
Oh My Goodness! It's GORGEOUS!
That is an amazing transformation! Just gorgeous & that fabric! You are seriously brave to have taken on this project. 🙂

Sarah – that's STUNNING!!!
I'm sure that was a beast – some of those angles look tricky. But it came out really, really gorgeous!
These are such eye candy! Love them. Can you provide your fabric source? I am sorry if you already have and I overlooked it, but please let me know!
Hi Ross! It's from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90160027/
I was happy with the quality!!
It looks beautiful! Love the black and white stripes!
Your upholstery skills are amazing. Are you self-taught or did you learn somewhere?? Stripes are so ambitious! Really cool. 🙂
Thank you! I'm self taught, but I've found lots of great tutorials online. Jenny from Little Green Notebook is amazing!!
It looks like you paid big bucks for that chair… Not $9! Amazing! I need to tackle my first re-upholstery project but am so nervous that I'll mess it up and give up half way through. Any suggestions on an easy project to start with??
Hi Lo! I'd definitely start by reupholstering a dining chair with a simple square seat – one that you can remove the seat, pull the fabric tight, staple and then reattach 🙂
It's absolutely GORGEOUS! I would have been so intimidated to recover something with so much shape. You have such skill!!!
So so so gorgeous. Fantastic job once again and I adore the little peak at the campaign trunk!
Nothing to say but W0WZA.
Wow!! I need to find one and send it over to you,or ill just wait for the info. Great job.
Gosh! You are so good!
Looks awesome!! I'm currently reupholstering 2 Cain back ones in black and white!! Love the way you ran the stripe!!
I absolutely love your pop of citron! I loved it in your last house, too. It was on the chair, right?) Have you shared the paint color before? I have a pair of dark jade chairs in my living room, and for the last year I've been wanting to add in more of this citron/pale chartreuse color. Thanks for all the great inspiration!!!
Thanks Elaine! 🙂 The canning chair from our last place was annie sloan chalk paint mixed with benjamin moore citron and the tray is rustoleum lemon grass (a nice greenish yellow)
uuuu lovely bed, and seems to be very comfortable too
Wow! Sarah, that is so beautiful. You've got some mad upholstery skills. 🙂
Seriously gorgeous! I'm suffering major chair envy. 🙂
They look amazing Sarah! You are the queen of reupholstery lady:)
