Hi! I hope that you had a good weekend 🙂 Today, I’m sharing another peek of our MBR – no major changes, but a better look at our new rug – the Souk from West Elm – and what’s under it – a rug pad from Rug Pad USA!
I didn’t think much about rug pads before we moved to our house – which is entirely hardwood (with tile in the the bathrooms) For the years that we were renting – I’d lay area rugs on top of wall to wall carpet (built in rug pad!) with no issues.
This is from our diamond rug that was in the living room. After walking on it, the wool started to break down – not only did this create a mess – it was damaging the rug. Not having a rug pad also caused a tripping hazard as the rug would easily move where it wasn’t anchored by furniture (I had a few close calls!)
Under our rug, we have Eco Plush, from Rug Pad USA. The first time I stepped on it, I noticed how soft and plush the rug / rug pad combo were! It’s amazing how not having the rug twist under my foot can make such a difference! The Eco Plush doesn’t have a gripper on it – since it’s anchored under the bed – it wasn’t needed, but there are gripper options for free standing rugs too.
Using a high quality rug pad to protect our recently refinished hardwood floors and area rugs was definitely worth it!
Thanks so much to Rug Pad USA for sponsoring this post! As always, I only share products and companies that I’ve had a good experience with. All ideas and opinions are 100% my own.

I need to get my hands on a good pad for my BeniO. I fell three times already because it slides and my current pad just doesn't cut it. Your bedroom is so beautiful!

I don't know why so many designers/bloggers, never put a rug pad underneath their rugs….they lay flat, they are safer and they look so much more attractive…..great job.

Looks great and yes, now that I have rug pads from there I can't stand a rug without one!

Would you say the pad makes the rug as cushy as carpet? I am trying to talk my husband into getting hardwoods in our living room, but he loves to play and wrestle with the kids on the floor and is concerned about it being too hard. I am wondering if a rug with a nice pad would solve that! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thanks Jennie! I'd say it's fairly comparable to carpet.
