If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that we are renovating our bathroom on the main level!
Here’s our inspiration board!
tile // faucet // sconce // pull
and the before! Not much that I like here – OK nothing! Everything is changing! New electrical placement / sconces, mirror, refurbished vanity, new countertop, new flooring, wall tile!
Demoed the rest of the bathroom. We’re planning to get the tub refinished instead of replacing it (it’s cast iron).
We will be adding legs to the vanity, replacing the doors to a full overlay shaker style and painting it!
Over the weekend we made new doors for the vanity from 1/4″ Birch plywood and Poplar 1×2 – David used a tongue and groove router bit to cut all the inner sides and then cut a tongue on the inside edge so that the plywood would fit snugly inside the Poplar.
Still lots to do – but we’re getting to the fun part – putting it back together!! Be sure to follow along 🙂

Looks great! Just curious, is it the cost factor that lead to the vanity updates vs. replacing it or is there some other reason that made replacing it difficult?

It is definitely cheaper to update – replacing the door and painting! Replacing it would be easier, but to cut costs, we opted to refurbish since it's in pretty good condition.
