It’s week 6 of the One Room Challenge! Over the past two weeks, we completed a custom large scale art, hung a picture light, and got all the slats cut for the wall above the art.
I’m obsessed with our picture light from Hudson Valley Lighting It’s substantial and the quality is so so good.
David cut a 1/4″ piece of plywood to size and built an oak frame. Would you be interested in a tutorial for how we made the frame? I painted the art – inspired by Ashleigh Holmes – check out her site, she also sells original art!
To secure it to the wall, David cut a French cleat for the back of the frame and the wall – two strips of plywood cut at a 45 so the frame fits snugly and secure to the wall.
Lots to do! We plan to install the slats (above the art) today. Next up, we’ll be creating a built in around the HVAC (on top of the loft) Come back next week for all the details. Be sure to check out everyone’s week 6 updates HERE

I would love to see a picture frame tutorial. I have several pieces of art that the frames are outdated and not my style. To buy all new frames would be too expensive so I’d love to be able to make this type of modern frame. The loft is looking great! Love following along.
