If you follow me on Instagram @sarahmdorseydesigns you may have seen that my eames office chairs came!
They were a great price $189 plus $75 shipping for the pair. There is one more pair left if you are interested, and also lots of Mid Century Modern furniture. Check out their eBay page to see.
Update: I forgot to mention why $264 is a good price for us considering that they need a lot of work. Charles and Ray Eames are known for a “rigorous discipline that allowed them to achieve perfection of form and mastery over materials” as Charles Eames noted about his original molded plywood chair. Their chairs are known to be ergonomic and built to last for many years. Plus since I first learned about Eames years ago, I’ve always wanted to own a piece of their furniture! They are in rough shape, nothing that can’t be fixed, but the upholstery is absolutely disgusting … I’ll spare you a close up, but Annabelle couldn’t stop sniffing it.
Not a good sign …
We put them outside when we were working on the credenza, and it was like catnip for dogs, ha!
Look of shame.
We took one of the covers off and exposed the icky foam and adhesive. I need to do a little more research on removing (the foam since it is glued on), re upholstery, and fabric options.
This weekend we may get to cleaning up the base and removing the rest of the fabric/foam, but first I am working on a makeover for the Lack tables that were holding our printers … anyone else diy something with this simple table?
If you have a weekend project involving paint, you may want to stop by Sherwin Williams for their 40% off sale – November 9-12!
Happy Friday! I hope you have a great weekend 🙂

I like the chairs but is that really a good deal considering all the work you have to do? I just don't know but I've seen comparable ones for about the same price that are new…they may not be name brand but no one sees the label when you are sitting down.

Hi Liz! Thanks for bringing that up! We decided to go with Eames because of the lasting quality, known for ergonomics, and as an investment piece. Those factors made the effort worth it to us 🙂

That's a great deal. I've had to remove some nasty foam before – so messy. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

any tips on removing the foam? 🙂

Can't wait to see what you do with the chairs… I love them. I recently hacked my lack side tables – turned 2 into 1. Nothing really original, as I have seen in online before, but I love it. Then used an old diaper box with some rope to hold all our diapers, burp clothes, etc.

I have been itching to hack some lack tables, but haven't come up with anything original. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
