I’m so thrilled to be participating in the Spring Blogger Stylin’ Home tour, hosted by The White Buffalo Styling Co.! If you’re stopping by from SG Style, welcome, I’m so glad that you’re here! Instead of a full tour, I’m sharing our dining room (with a few new touches) and a super easy DIY project!
Come on in!
I love spring because of the abundance of free blooms found around our home! I love the fuchsia paired with yellow and turquoise!
I picked up some hydrangea’s from Trader Joes – I can’t wait until mine start blooming outside!
I found the aluminum M (for my middle name) at a consignment store several months ago. It’s one of my favorite things!
The basket is from Home Goods, I love the white weaving!
The Banana leaf tree is from Home Depot.
The draperies were inspired by these from Soft Surroundings. To simplify them – they’re no sew!
To make them I used:
-Two white (linen look) table cloths from Home Goods (108″ long)
-Small black Pom Pom trim from Hobby Lobby (13.5 yards of trim per 108″ panel – this accounts for the folded top, so the amount listed is one scallop short) I purchased (3) 9 yard rolls at Hobby Lobby.
-Fabric glue (my preference is Fabri-Tac, you want something that has a quick grab so you’re not holding it while it dries)
-Scissors
To get started, I drew a line down the middle of a yogurt lid. I placed the edge of the lid on the edge of the fabric (I didn’t want the cut out in the scallop, so I used that as the guide line). Then I drew a circle half way around the lid with a pencil.
Then I cut the scallop out with scissors.
Then I attached small pom pom trim to the edge with fabric glue (use a fast grab kind!) For each scallop, I cut an individual piece of trim since the bend was too sharp.
My store didn’t have enough trim, but if it did, I would have flipped it over and applied a second trim to seal the edge. (If you double it up, you would need 27 yards of trim for two 108″ long panels)
For the top, I folded it over, the length of one scallop and applied a 1″ band of fabric glue (spread the glue out with the tip so the line isn’t as harsh and shows through the front).
The rod slips through the top.
That’s it!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
