Hey friends! How are you? I hope well! We’re at the point where I’m just ready to clean up and start the prettier stuff .. unfortunately, we’re still in the messy phase, but the light is around the corner! If you missed week one, check out our design plan here! All the details on what the One Room Challenge is here, if you’re not familiar.
Since last week, we added drywall to enclose our utility closet. We really wanted to hire out the drywall (I reeeaaalllly hate drywall, it’s so messy and there is definitely a skill to getting it perfect), but we could not find anyone to come out quick enough. So to keep things moving forward, we’re DIYing it.  We are adding wood panels in front so that we can access the equipment, so that’s why the middle is open. (Can you find Charlotte in the mess below? She’s always there, doesn’t mind the noise 🙂
We’re also adding recessed lighting to the space! We already had a small hole in the drywall from removing a fan that wasn’t working. For running wires in a space that already drywalled, you have to poke several holes in the drywall .. or you can do what we did. We opted to just remove a 4’x8′ section (the size of a drywall sheet) to easily run all the wires and then we’ll patch that whole area. We purchased this recessed lighting (3,000K color temperature) David says they will be very easy to install!
Our cork flooring came on Monday, it’s currently acclimating to the space! We plan to start installing early next week.
Once we get the messy things out of the way, things should start moving faster!! I can’t wait! 🙂
Also, be sure to check out what everyone else is up to in Week 2, here for the ORC!
